LAFAYETTE AREA INFORMATION
Welcome to the area Information section for the Lafayette area. When considering what home to buy, the community can be as important a consideration as the real estate itself. This section should help you learn more about our beautiful community and all it has to offer.
The variety of food consisting of fine dining, local Cajun cooking, barbeque huts, and of course Cajun fried chicken and don't forget Louisiana "poor boys" will leave you salivating and asking for more. We almost always guarantee that you will put on a few pounds during the first few weeks you are here.
Our University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) offers a full cadre of subjects and degrees. Our Cajundome and Frem Boustany Center offer national entertainment as well as local talent offerings such as Symphony Orchestra.
Are you sports minded? Our fishing and hunting is second to none. Within a few miles either way you can find either. Our University sports are nationally ranked, our high school athletes are recognized nationally. Our Icegators hockey team and new baseball Cane Cutters offer many fun filled hours.
Our schools and our Churches are varied. Our entertainment such as Mardi Gras, Festival International and the many local festivals mean you will never have a dull weekend.
Our variety in housing is a plethora of styles. There are small Cajun cottages, Acadian styled homes and both small and large traditional houses. There are several large executive home areas including planned developments known as River Ranch and Sugar Mill Pond which house small cottages to huge mansions. These areas include top end shopping and restaurants to suit any taste.
This area is the cultural center of Louisiana's heritage. It is the hub of business, technology, medicine and the arts.
